From Another Mother is a podcast for all moms to share, vent, and learn from each other's amazing journeys into parenthood and beyond. Shelby, the founder, came to us to help her create a visual identity for her brand that was fun, 70's groove inflected, and engaging. The challenge was to create an aesthetic that wasn't too 'mumsy' and that could stand out even in the tiny square preview format that potential listeners would see in a Spotify search.
Color speaks a language of its own; choosing hues that send the right message
Purple combines the power and energy of red with the calming stability of blue, and according to the color psychologists, it also encourages creativity & empathy; both things that a podcast touching on intimate, personal subjects definitely needs. The warm pinks and purples of the From Another Mother brand invite the listeners to snuggle up and tell a story of their own, knowing that they will benefit from that down to earth & compassionate understanding that makes Shelbie's podcast stand out from other 'mommy' shows.
From Another Mother was such a fun project to work on, as we were drawing on the 70's aesthetic it gave us permission to go into warp-drive. To create the logo, we chose a funky hand drawn font and then pushed, squished, and pulled it into the shape of lips. (FAM being all about conversation). For brand typography; we used a thick Serif font with a 3 part rainbow background for headlines paired with a skinnier Serif font that Shelbie could use for sub-headlines in her other branding applications (social, web, print).
"Come in, take a seat, be my guest!"
From Another Mother's main aim was to invite listeners to tune in and be part of a community of moms, sharing their stories of motherhood and more. We used friendly, warm colors, a high dose of playful nostalgia (updated to fit into the 2020's), and a mix of unique Serif fonts to create a welcoming atmosphere. Shelbie's show isn't so much about endless self improvement, it's more a place to chat, learn and build those bonds that make life worth while.
